A tragic incident unfolded last weekend when a man was accused of a fatal double stabbing that resulted in the death of his ex-girlfriend and injury to her daughter in North Lauderdale. The suspect, Vital Joseph, aged 56, was initially apprehended in Brevard County earlier this week but has since been transferred to the Broward County jail.
The stabbing took place on Saturday at a townhome located in the 1800 block of Runners Way. Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene following reports of two women being stabbed inside the residence. The victims were identified as Maggie Pouer, 52, and her adult daughter, Isabelle Joseph. Unfortunately, Pouer, identified as Vital Joseph’s former partner, succumbed to her injuries.
Evidence from doorbell camera footage reportedly shows Vital Joseph entering the home shortly before the stabbing occurred. It was Pouer’s granddaughter who discovered the aftermath of the attack and alerted authorities by calling 911. Family members have mentioned that Isabelle Joseph is now recovering at home, though she was initially unaware that Vital Joseph had been returned to Broward County.
The motive behind this violent attack is still under investigation. According to records, Vital Joseph is currently being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and burglary of a dwelling with battery.
