Tampa, FL – A Mexican national, Emilio Nolasco-Carbajal, has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges on February 6, 2025.
Nolasco-Carbajal, a native of Mexico, had been deported from the U.S. three times prior to his latest arrest—on March 27, 2013, May 5, 2014, and January 25, 2018. Before his last deportation, he was also convicted of illegally reentering the country.
Federal immigration authorities discovered Nolasco-Carbajal in the Hillsborough County Jail on December 16, 2024, following his arrest on an unrelated charge. The case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Chang.
