Tampa, FL – A Tampa woman, Leanna Bryant, 28, has entered a guilty plea for her involvement in two robberies, conspiracy to commit those robberies, and aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during the crimes. Bryant could face up to 20 years in prison for each robbery charge. Additionally, she faces a mandatory minimum of seven years to life in federal prison for each firearms charge, to be served consecutively to any other sentence. A sentencing date is yet to be determined.
The incidents occurred in August 2023, when Bryant collaborated with others to rob two convenience stores. During both robberies, a firearm was used and brandished. Investigation efforts revealed that a vehicle linked to Bryant was captured on license plate readers near the robbery sites at the time of the incidents. Further evidence included Bryant’s fingerprints found in the vehicle.
The investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Tampa Police Department, the Temple Terrace Police Department, the Lakeland Police Department, and the North Port Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Newman.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence, aiming to enhance neighborhood safety. Launched on May 26, 2021, the Department’s violent crime reduction strategy under PSN focuses on building community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
