Three Men Face Manslaughter Charges Following Woman’s Death on Golf Course

A tragic incident at a golf course has led to the death of a 62-year-old woman, Suzanne Cherry, following a collision with a van that occurred during a police pursuit. She succumbed to her injuries in the hospital on April 15, four days after the accident at Aston Wood Golf Club in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

The grey Nissan van that struck Cherry was being chased by police due to reports of suspicious activity. Authorities have now charged three men in connection with the incident. John McDonald, aged 51, faces charges of manslaughter, assault by beating, and refusing to stop a vehicle when directed by a police officer, as announced by West Midlands Police. Additionally, Johnny McDonald, 22, and Brett Delaney, 34, have been charged with manslaughter.

Suzanne Cherry, remembered fondly by her family, was enjoying one of her favorite pastimes when the tragic event occurred. Her husband expressed deep sorrow, describing the scene as one of “helpless horror” and highlighted her vibrant spirit and the lasting impact she had on those around her. He emphasized her selflessness and supportive nature, which inspired many to achieve beyond their expectations.

Cherry’s passing leaves a significant void in the lives of her mother, Maureen, her three adult children, two stepchildren, and numerous friends and colleagues. Her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, three additional men who were initially arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation have been released on bail with conditions. The Independent Office for Police Conduct continues to scrutinize the events leading up to the collision.

The three men charged in connection with the incident were scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday, according to police reports.
