The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin is set to host its annual Literacy Summit on April 29, running from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Midland Horseshoe Arena, located at 2514 Arena Trail, Midland. Attendees are welcomed to arrive as early as 8 a.m. for the free event, which offers both a Continental breakfast and lunch.
Under the theme “Literacy for Growth,” the summit will present a variety of educational opportunities, featuring 12 informative sessions and nine interactive booths. The highlight of the event includes a keynote address from Steve Sauceda, Vice President of Workforce Development at New Mexico Junior College. Additionally, attendees can participate in breakout sessions designed to deliver valuable insights and actionable strategies for those committed to advancing literacy education.
The summit caters to a diverse audience, including teachers, tutors, volunteers, HR professionals, employers, and literacy advocates. Participants will have access to essential training in areas such as adult education best practices, health and financial literacy, employability skills, and early childhood literacy, providing a well-rounded perspective on literacy development.
