The upscale restaurant Salt 7, situated in a prime spot at Icon Las Olas, has been officially evicted from Fort Lauderdale. Early Tuesday morning, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office executed the eviction following a period marked by controversy over unpaid wages and bounced checks. Located at 500 E. Las Olas Blvd. along the Riverwalk, Salt 7 had its locks changed after a court-ordered writ of possession was enforced, leaving the establishment closed.

Employees who gathered outside the restaurant, hoping to collect back pay, found themselves facing locked doors and uncertainty. Reports began surfacing last week about complaints against Salt 7’s owner, John Kostoglou. Employees took to social media, accusing the restaurant of withholding wages, including tips and credit card gratuities.

Despite steady business, employees question where the restaurant’s revenue has gone. With Salt 7 now permanently closed, employees fear they may never receive the money they are owed. Since the initial report, many former employees, not just from Salt 7 but from other restaurants as well, have come forward with similar stories of wage issues.
