During its debut deployment, the vessel, named after the state it represents, collaborated with the U.S. Coast Guard to seize significant quantities of narcotics.
The operations yielded the confiscation of 1,200 pounds of cocaine, valued at approximately $9.5 million, and 2,400 pounds of marijuana, estimated at $2.8 million. These successful interdictions were executed through coordinated air and surface maneuvers, underscoring the ship’s operational proficiency.
The littoral combat ship’s involvement in the drug busts highlights its critical role in safeguarding national waters from illegal maritime trafficking.
