Venezuelan National Charged in Tampa for Fraudulent Social Security and Green Card Offenses

Tampa, FL – A Venezuelan national, Carlos Alberto Urribarri Dominguez, 34, has been indicted on charges related to the possession of fraudulent identification documents. The indictment accuses Urribarri Dominguez of knowingly purchasing a fake Social Security card and possessing a counterfeit U.S. Permanent Resident Card, commonly known as a “Green Card.”

If found guilty of the Social Security card offense, Urribarri Dominguez could face up to five years in federal prison. The charge related to the Green Card carries a potential maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a national initiative by the Department of Justice aiming to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguard communities from violent crime. The operation integrates efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

The investigation into this case was conducted by the United States Border Patrol, the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General, and the Veterans Affairs Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Adam W. McCall will lead the prosecution.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal charge, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
