The confrontation reportedly occurred on February 12, around 3:50 p.m., inside a hospital room located at 20900 Biscayne Boulevard. Aventura police were summoned to the scene in response to a domestic battery report involving the 81-year-old patient who was receiving medical care at the facility.
The victim alleged that her daughter, 56-year-old Rosemary Espinosa from Hallandale Beach, became upset during a discussion concerning financial matters. The confrontation arose when Espinosa requested her mother’s checkbook and details about direct deposits. Upon the mother’s refusal to provide the information, the daughter allegedly assaulted her by grabbing her upper chest, left shoulder, and arm, followed by a punch to the chest.
Alarmed by the victim’s cries for help, a registered nurse entered the room and discovered Espinosa hiding in the bathroom with the lights turned off. According to the investigation, Espinosa complied with the request to leave the hospital premises. Hospital staff documented a significant bruise on the victim’s upper left arm, near her armpit and shoulder, which was not noted prior to the incident.
Authorities conducted an interview with Rosemary Espinosa at the Aventura Police Department. During this session, she waived her Miranda rights and admitted to being frustrated over a disagreement about a bank account.
