In a heartbreaking turn of events on New Year’s Eve, 10-year-old Yaneliz Manguia lost her life due to a stray bullet while she and her family were celebrating both the New Year and her birthday outside their home in Miami.
The celebration, which took place near Northwest 27th Avenue and 21st Terrace, was meant to be a joyful family gathering. However, the happiness was shattered when a stray bullet struck Yaneliz, turning the festive night into a scene of tragedy.
Ramon Valdizon, her grandfather, expressed the universal fear and sorrow that followed the incident, emphasizing, “It can happen to your own children.” Despite her parents’ urgent efforts to get her medical attention, they were met by paramedics in Hialeah and proceeded to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Unfortunately, the attempts to save her were in vain, as it was too late upon her arrival.
A memorial has since been established outside the Manguia family home, serving as a poignant reminder of the innocent life lost. Meanwhile, Miami-Dade authorities continue their investigation, appealing to the public for information that might lead to the person responsible for this tragic event.
Ana Sacasa, Yaneliz’s aunt, candidly described the enduring pain the family faces, stating, “It’s a horrible moment. It’s not going to be easy living with this.” The Miami community is encouraged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS with any information that could aid in solving this case.
The Miami community remains in mourning over the untimely loss of a young life due to senseless violence. As loved ones gather to remember Yaneliz, the ongoing investigation highlights the urgent need for information that could bring closure to her family. Her tragic death serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictable dangers posed by gun violence.
