A tragic incident unfolded in South Miami on Sunday as a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot following an argument outside an apartment building, leading to the detention of two teenagers.
The victim, identified by homicide detectives as Nolan King, was involved in a dispute at approximately 5:30 p.m. near SW 64th Street and 59th Place. The nature of the argument remains unclear, but it culminated in a shooting that left the young King severely injured.
Emergency responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue swiftly transported King to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. Despite their efforts, King succumbed to his injuries, marking a somber end to a promising young life.
Police reports indicate that King was with two men he knew at the time of the altercation. “The subjects were known to the victim. They were here at this location together,” confirmed Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin, suggesting that this was not a random act of violence.
Following the shooting, authorities received information about a suspect vehicle. In a swift response, police located the car. However, the pursuit took a dramatic turn when the suspects abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot near South Dixie Highway and SW 104th Street.
The pursuit ended with the apprehension of two young men, aged 18 and 19, who are now in custody as potential suspects. However, the identities of these individuals have not been disclosed, pending further investigation.
The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, with Miami-Dade police continuing to piece together the events that led to the untimely death of Nolan King. As the community grapples with this loss, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
