The annual “polar plunge” event took place today at Jacksonville Beach, drawing hundreds eager to welcome 2025 with a splash.
Participants gathered by the lifeguard station and Joe’s Crab Shack for the much-anticipated plunge into the chilly Atlantic waters. The event, supported by the city of Jacksonville Beach and TriMadness Endurance Club, has become a tradition for many locals and visitors.
Meteorologist Mark Collins reported that water temperatures were around 61 degrees, with air temperatures in the 40s and 50s, making it a bracing start to the New Year. The event is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, encouraging participants of all ages to take part.
Live streaming of the plunge allowed those who couldn’t attend in person to witness the event from afar, emphasizing the community’s spirit and the fun of starting the year on a refreshing note.
