Authorities have apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in the tragic murders of Beatrice Saintvil and her young daughter, Janelle Souffrant, earlier this year on Florida’s Turnpike.
Following a comprehensive investigation, law enforcement officials announced the arrest of 28-year-old Antoine Harris and 29-year-old Jaquan Thomas. The Broward Sheriff’s Office revealed that these arrests are connected to the June 7 incident where the victims were found fatally shot in their vehicle.
Antoine Harris was arrested in Miami Gardens and is set to be transferred to Broward County. Meanwhile, Jaquan Thomas, currently detained in Georgia on unrelated charges, will also face extradition to the same county. Both suspects are facing two charges of first-degree murder and are expected to be processed at the BSO’s Main Jail.
The incident unfolded late at night on June 7, when authorities discovered Beatrice Saintvil, 27, and her 4-year-old daughter, Janelle Souffrant, inside a car on the Turnpike’s southbound shoulder near Hollywood Boulevard. The young child was declared dead at the scene, while Saintvil succumbed to her injuries during surgery.
Family members expressed profound grief and a desire for justice. Kyanna Librun, Saintvil’s sister, voiced the family’s anguish, questioning the rationale behind the senseless violence that claimed the lives of her sister and niece. “We want to know, why? A 4-year-old baby girl and 27-year-old mother who never had a problem with anyone,” she lamented. The family remembered them as inseparable and fondly spoke of their love for dancing and hosting family gatherings.
The arrests of Harris and Thomas mark a significant development in this tragic case. As the legal process unfolds, the bereaved family hopes that justice will be served for Beatrice Saintvil and her daughter.
