UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore. – Anthony Alan Daulton, 42, of Las Vegas, has been returned to custody in Umatilla County without bail after a judge revoked his release conditions. The revocation follows a new arrest warrant issued after Daulton, who faces manslaughter charges in Oregon, was allegedly involved in a driving under the influence incident in Nevada.
Daulton was originally charged with multiple felonies, including two counts of first-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), and reckless driving, stemming from a fatal collision on Highway 730 in Morrow County on July 19, 2024. According to reports from the Oregon State Police, Daulton’s vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a pickup truck head-on. The crash resulted in the deaths of the pickup’s driver, Abraham Figuero-Ayala, and his young son.
The Oregon Department of Justice (ODOJ), which is managing the prosecution, moved to revoke Daulton’s bail after discovering he had been arrested under similar circumstances in Las Vegas on November 6. According to court filings, Daulton was involved in a collision in Nevada, and subsequent tests measured his blood alcohol concentration at 0.234 approximately one hour after the crash. Court records indicate that at the time of the Las Vegas incident, Daulton stated he was en route to pick up his daughter from school. Previously, Daulton had secured his release from Umatilla County Jail by posting a $15,000 deposit and signing an agreement to obey all laws.
Following the revocation order, Daulton was booked back into the Umatilla County Jail on Tuesday and is currently being held with no bail option. Circuit Court Judge Pro Tem Carey H. Meerdink has issued an order scheduling Daulton’s sentencing hearing for December 15 at 1:15 p.m.
Judicial Procedures and Public Safety Implications
The revocation of bail in this case underscores the judicial system’s mechanism for mitigating flight risk and community danger during active prosecutions. When a defendant on conditional release is alleged to have committed a new offense—particularly one identical in nature to the original charge—courts typically move swiftly to remand the individual into custody to prevent further incidents prior to adjudication. This action ensures the defendant’s presence for critical hearings, such as the upcoming sentencing phase. It is important to note that all individuals, including Daulton regarding the new charges in Nevada, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
