A 20-year-old Bridgeport man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle rollover accident on Route 8 North in Shelton on Monday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers were dispatched to the area near Exit 12A at approximately 9:08 a.m. regarding reports of a crash. Preliminary findings described in the police report indicate that the vehicle, an Infiniti Q50, veered off the roadway before striking a light pole and a metal sign. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver.

Authorities identified the deceased as Oliver Armando Cruz-Ortiz. The police report further noted that the Infiniti Q50 involved in the crash had been previously reported stolen out of Newark, New Jersey.
