The Maryland Heights Fire Protection District reported the incident and implemented the safety measures around 1:30 p.m. Emergency crews shut down both directions of Lackland Road between Schuetz Road and Concourse Drive to secure the area while the leak was addressed.
The roadway was reopened to traffic just over an hour later. Officials confirmed that the scene was turned over to Spire, the local gas utility company, which successfully mitigated the leak and ensured the area was safe for residents.
