CONROE, Texas – A 35-year-old man identified as Kenneth “Shooter” Bone was taken into custody Monday night after jumping into the San Jacinto River in an attempt to evade law enforcement following an alleged carjacking in Montgomery County. The suspect now faces charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Coker Road in Conroe. Investigators state that the victim, who was acquainted with the suspect, reported that Bone approached him, brandished a firearm, and forcibly took his vehicle. Following the report, deputies issued a regional alert for the suspect and the stolen automobile.
A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) subsequently located the vehicle traveling on Highway 105 East. Authorities report that when the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Bone refused to yield, initiating a vehicular pursuit. The chase reportedly crossed county lines before concluding when the suspect abandoned the vehicle and leapt into the San Jacinto River. Law enforcement officers at the scene retrieved Bone from the water and placed him under arrest. He was subsequently booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
