The Tampa Bay area is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures as Arctic air spreads south, affecting Florida’s usually warm climate.
Meteorologists forecast that Tuesday will see the coldest afternoon of the week with temperatures peaking only in the 50s. The chilly conditions are expected to persist through Wednesday and Thursday before a slight warm-up on Friday.
Valerie Mills, a meteorologist, reports that wind will continue to be a factor, making it feel even colder than the actual temperatures suggest. Wednesday morning could feel particularly brisk with lows dropping to the 30s and 40s, and wind chills potentially reaching the 20s in certain regions.
A Freeze Warning has been issued for areas in inland Citrus County on Wednesday morning due to expected low temperatures. Despite a slight rise in temperatures later in the week, highs will remain below average as we approach the weekend.
By Friday, temperatures are anticipated to climb to around 70 degrees, providing a brief respite before another cold front is predicted to bring cooler air into the region over the weekend.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions, especially in terms of protecting sensitive plants and ensuring the safety of pets amid the cold snap.
As Tampa Bay braces for the coldest weather of the season due to Arctic winds, residents are urged to prepare for the week-long chill. However, a temporary warm-up is expected before another cold front arrives.
