Clearwater is set to experience significant traffic congestion over the New Year’s weekend as multiple events draw crowds to the area.
The City of Clearwater has issued an alert to its residents regarding anticipated heavy traffic due to a series of events planned for the New Year’s weekend. The ReliaQuest Bowl Beach Day scheduled for December 29th, and the Light It Up Clearwater celebration on December 31st are expected to be the primary drivers of the increased traffic volumes in the area.
Compounding the expected congestion are ongoing construction activities along Coronado Drive and South Gulfview Boulevard. These constructions are predicted to exacerbate the traffic situation as visitors flock to Clearwater during the holiday period.
In response to the anticipated traffic challenges, Clearwater authorities are encouraging residents and visitors to consider alternative transportation options. Ridesharing and carpooling are being recommended to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, the city is offering transportation services to the ReliaQuest Bowl event via the Jolley Trolley, providing a convenient travel option for attendees.
The Clearwater Police Department, alongside city management, continues to advise the public to plan their travel arrangements carefully and to allow extra time when commuting during this busy period.
Residents and visitors are urged to take heed of the expected traffic challenges in Clearwater over the holiday weekend and to leverage alternative transportation options where possible to ensure a smooth travel experience.
