A significant change in weather is set to sweep across South Florida as the coldest air since February makes its presence known starting Thursday night.
Following the passage of a cold front earlier today, South Florida residents will experience a notable drop in temperatures. Throughout Thursday, the skies will clear up, providing ample sunshine, while humidity levels decrease. Despite attempts to reach a high of 80°F, which is typical for this season, temperatures will begin to fall sharply after sunset.
Northerly winds combined with clear skies will cause temperatures to dip into the 60s by 8 PM and further drop into the 50s just after midnight across parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. This cooling trend will persist through the weekend, with morning temperatures expected to be in the 50s inland and slightly warmer, in the 60s, near the coast and in the Florida Keys.
Daytime temperatures will remain on the cooler side, staying in the 70s from Friday through Sunday. Saturday is anticipated to see the coldest daytime high of 72°F, marking the coolest day since February 20th. The coming week will then see a gradual warming trend with highs returning to the low 80s and lows rising to the 60s, closer to seasonal norms.
Despite the cooler temperatures, the weather is expected to stay dry and mostly sunny over the next seven days, thanks to high pressure maintaining control over the region’s weather pattern.
Residents of South Florida can prepare for a brief but tangible dip in temperatures this weekend. While the chillier weather is expected to pass, the dry and sunny conditions will certainly be welcomed by many.
