Following Wednesday’s significant rainfall, South Florida is set to experience a series of cold fronts that will lower temperatures just in time for the beginning of winter.
The transition starts Thursday afternoon, as the first cold front moves in, reducing moisture and humidity for the remainder of the week. Although temperatures will not hit their lowest for the season or the year, residents can expect several cooler-than-average days stretching into the weekend.
On Friday, temperatures will remain seasonably warm with highs around 80 degrees, but the air will be noticeably drier. Northerly winds will continue to usher in cooler air, leading to a Saturday morning dip into the mid-50s, while afternoon temperatures rebound to the lower 70s.
This cooling trend will be further reinforced by another front, which is expected to push Sunday morning lows into the 50s once more. Despite the chillier mornings, sunny skies will help afternoon highs reach into the lower to mid-70s.
Looking ahead, daily high temperatures are predicted to stabilize in the mid-70s through Christmas, while rain chances gradually increase as the holiday approaches.
South Floridians should prepare for a noticeable shift in weather patterns, as a series of cold fronts bring cooler temperatures and decreased humidity, providing a refreshing start to the winter season.
