WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut State Police are actively investigating a fatal road rage incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 84, resulting in the death of one individual following an altercation between two commercial vehicle operators.

According to state troopers, the incident took place at approximately 3:15 p.m. on I-84 eastbound, near Exit 44. Preliminary reports from the Connecticut State Police indicate that a freightliner towing a trailer was traveling in the right lane, while a box truck was positioned in the center lane amidst heavy traffic congestion.

Investigators stated that during the slowdown, one of the operators exited their vehicle and crossed the highway lanes to climb into the cab of the box truck. A physical disturbance reportedly ensued between the individuals inside the vehicle. Police confirmed that during the course of this altercation, one of the individuals was run over by one of the involved vehicles and died from their injuries.
