In a troubling incident at the Hillendale Cares facility in Brooksville, Florida, a resident, identified as a convicted felon, fired shots at a community bus after being denied a ride, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, at the Hillendale Cares facility in Brooksville, a heated event unfolded as a resident, Mckenzi Finn, took drastic actions against a facility bus. The situation escalated when Finn was informed by the bus driver that he could not be given a ride to the store due to a prior commitment to another resident. Instead, staff advised him to clean his room while they arranged alternative transportation for him. This minor inconvenience turned into a dangerous confrontation.
As the bus driver was preparing to depart from the facility, Finn emerged and unexpectedly fired three shots in the direction of the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, and the bus itself did not sustain any damage.
Upon investigation, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office issued a search warrant. Detectives discovered the weapon used in the altercation hidden in a shared bathroom, along with ammunition found in Finn’s personal quarters.
Following these events, Mckenzi Finn faced multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm in public, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Finn was subsequently taken into custody at the Hernando County Detention Center, with a bond set at $26,000.
This alarming event underscores the serious risks posed by allowing firearms in the hands of individuals with prior felony convictions. It highlights the need for continual vigilance and the enforcement of legal restrictions to prevent such incidents.
