Dog Attack on Boy in Deerfield Beach Results in Shooting by Deputies

An 11-year-old boy was attacked by three dogs in Deerfield Beach on Friday night, prompting local authorities to take decisive action.

The incident occurred as Stefan Pierre was walking to his uncle’s apartment, located in the same complex on Southwest 13th Place near South Dixie Highway. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that three dogs were involved in the attack. In response to the ongoing threat posed by the animals, deputies were compelled to shoot one of the dogs.

The Broward County Animal Care team responded promptly, transporting the injured dog for medical treatment. Remarkably, the dog survived the ordeal and, along with the other two dogs involved, is currently in the custody of Animal Care authorities.

Despite the alarming nature of the attack, no deputies sustained injuries during the incident. Reflecting on the encounter, Pierre expressed his distress, noting the severity of the pain in his arm following the attack. He described one of the dogs as having ‘glared’ at him before launching the attack, which left him visibly shaken.

This incident underscores the importance of community safety and the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing such threatening situations. Local residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any unusual animal behavior to authorities immediately.

The attack on Stefan Pierre highlights the complex dynamics between public safety and animal control, necessitating swift action by local law enforcement to prevent further harm. While the incident ended without human fatalities, it serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of animal behavior and the essential role of authorities in safeguarding the community.
