Authorities in East Lansing are conducting a manhunt for a suspect following an armed robbery at a business near the Michigan State University campus on Friday afternoon. Officers from the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to the report at 221 M.A.C. Ave. at approximately 1:21 p.m. on February 6.

According to officials, the suspect entered the business and displayed a handgun during the robbery. After the incident, the individual reportedly fled the store on foot, heading south toward Grand River Avenue. Investigators currently believe the suspect has left the immediate vicinity.

Police described the suspect as a Black male between 20 and 30 years old. Witnesses reported he was wearing a black jacket featuring brown fur around the hood, accompanied by red pants and red shoes. Authorities noted a distinct physical characteristic: a tattoo located under the suspect’s right eye.

The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety, along with the Michigan State Police Canine Unit, assisted ELPD with the initial response and search operations. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact ELPD Detective Andy Ferguson.
