According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the threat was received at approximately 12:42 p.m., targeting the university’s Emily Parker Myers Admissions Center. In response, Mercer University officials issued a campus-wide alert instructing students and staff to shelter in place as a precautionary measure.
Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies, alongside the university’s campus police and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene. The area around the admissions center was secured, causing a temporary blockage of Johnson and Winship Streets on the west side of the campus.
