Family Holds Hope Amid Search for Missing Teen in Clay County

Alyssa Umbahaugh, a 15-year-old from Clay County, has been missing since early December, leaving her family in a state of deep concern and the community actively involved in the search efforts.

Alyssa was last seen on December 1, near a motel on Youngerman Circle. Described as 5’7” and approximately 90 pounds, she has green eyes and braces. At the time, she was wearing a black and grey sweater, black flared leggings, and black Converse shoes. Her family describes her as artistic and funny, with a love for the color pink and anime shows.

“She’s much more than the picture everyone sees. She’s a human being with a mother who fiercely loves her,” stated Danielle Nahabetian, a close family friend who has been involved in the search efforts. Nahabetian, who watched Alyssa grow up, emphasizes the girl’s vibrant personality, contrary to the situation she is currently entangled in.

The community response has been significant, with hundreds turning out to distribute flyers and canvas the area in hopes of finding Alyssa. This collective effort reflects a unity beyond personal differences, with individuals putting aside political and religious beliefs to focus on the common goal of bringing Alyssa home safely.

The investigation is ongoing, and while details remain limited, the family and authorities continue to urge the public for any information that might aid in the search. Concerns for Alyssa’s wellbeing are at the forefront, with loved ones questioning her safety and comfort in her current circumstances.

“Is she eating? Is she comfortable? Is she safe with people around her?” Nahabetian voiced the family’s continuous worry over Alyssa’s welfare.

The steadfast hope and unwavering search by Alyssa’s family and community highlight their determination to see her safely returned. As the investigation proceeds, any tips should be directed to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 904-264-6512.
