A South Florida family received an unexpected Christmas gift when a collaboration between a local sports team and a roofing company resulted in a brand-new roof for their home.
Residents of Deerfield Beach, still absorbing the surprise of a lifetime, found their lives transformed this holiday season. On Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins, in cooperation with Action Roofing, provided the St. Preux family with a much-needed new roof. The gift was announced by Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert, who shared, “On behalf of the Miami Dolphins and Action Roofing, we’re going to gift you guys a roof.”
The St. Preux family, who had been facing significant hardship due to a compromised roof, experienced relief and joy at the announcement. Kervens St. Preux, a college student, expressed his gratitude by saying, “This is something that I’ve been praying for, and to be able to see the fruition of my prayers, it’s a phenomenal thing.”
The family, which includes St. Preux’s parents and two brothers, had been dealing with the dire consequences of a hole in their roof. This issue had affected their bills, disrupted their sleep, and even impacted their health. St. Preux’s mother, Garleen Gallumett, detailed the challenges they faced, noting, “There’s water come in all over the place, the shingles, everything falls off inside and makes me more sick.”
However, thanks to the combined efforts of Action Roofing and the Miami Dolphins, the family now has hope for a healthier living environment. St. Preux noted that sleeping outdoors and being exposed to the elements will soon be a thing of the past, significantly improving their quality of life. “I feel like this is something that will change not only the quality of my life, but the quality of my whole family’s life,” he remarked.
The timing of this gift, classified by the family as a ‘Christmas miracle,’ couldn’t be better. With the promise of a completed roof in the coming weeks, St. Preux looks forward to celebrating the festive season in the comfort of a secure and weatherproof home. Dolphins player Mostert added, “We want to be able to leave a footprint out there for the community, and what better way than to leave a roof and lasting impression for family that needs.”
This heartwarming story highlights the inspiring impact of community support, reinforcing the power of collaboration and generosity during the holiday season.
