A female pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on northbound Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley, just north of Carson City, according to the Nevada State Police. The incident has led to significant road closures as authorities conduct their investigation.

The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the area of northbound I-580 between Eastlake Boulevard and North Carson Street. Investigators have determined that a vehicle traveling northbound hit the pedestrian, who was in the roadway. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the crash, authorities have closed all northbound traffic on I-580 at College Parkway. Additionally, North Carson Street is closed to northbound traffic at Arrowhead Drive. Officials anticipate these closures will remain in effect until late Tuesday night, between 10 p.m. and midnight.
