Authorities in Orange County are searching for a suspect following a fatal hit-and-run collision late Sunday night in Pine Hills. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed that a pedestrian was killed and a driver attempting to render aid was injured on Silver Star Road near Le Havre Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the sequence of events began shortly after 11 p.m. when an eastbound 2003 Honda Accord struck a pedestrian who had entered the roadway. WESH reported that the driver of the Honda immediately stopped the vehicle to assist the injured pedestrian.

While the driver was stopped, a second vehicle—identified by witnesses as a blue Chevy Malibu—struck both the pedestrian and the Honda driver. FHP investigators stated that the driver of the Malibu briefly exited the vehicle to inspect it for damage before fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as an adult male wearing a black hoodie.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Honda Accord sustained minor injuries. Investigators noted that the suspect vehicle likely exhibits visible front-end damage and is missing its driver-side mirror.

Investigative Outlook

Law enforcement officials are prioritizing the identification of the fleeing vehicle, utilizing witness descriptions and potential surveillance footage from the Silver Star Road corridor. The Florida Highway Patrol has urged anyone with information regarding the blue Chevy Malibu or the driver to contact them or submit anonymous tips via Crimeline, which offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
