Florida Woman Faces Multiple Charges after School Zone Speeding Incident

In an incident that unfolded in Davenport, Florida, a woman was apprehended by authorities for multiple violations, including driving with a suspended license and possession of drugs, after being stopped for speeding in a school zone.

Lara Alexandre, a 23-year-old from Clermont, was observed by deputies speeding through a school zone while distracted by an iPad and not wearing her seatbelt. The event took place near Ridgeview Global Studies on Dunson Road at around 8:15 a.m. during a routine patrol. When stopped by law enforcement, Alexandre admitted to not possessing her driver’s license. A check into her records revealed that her driving privileges had been suspended since September 2024.

Upon searching her vehicle, deputies discovered marijuana and a grinder concealed in her purse, alongside confirmation of her suspended driver’s license. These findings prompted the deputies to escalate the situation, leading to Alexandre’s arrest.

The situation intensified when Alexandre became physically combative. As an officer attempted to take her into custody, she reportedly elbowed him in the chest. Her aggressive behavior continued in the patrol car en route to the Sheriff’s Processing Center in Winter Haven, where she bit a detention deputy on the arm while being removed from the vehicle.

For her actions, Alexandre now faces a series of charges. These include two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, resisting arrest with violence, possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia, possession of a suspended driver’s license, and driving with said suspended license. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd remarked on the situation, highlighting Alexandre’s poor choices and advising against drawing attention to oneself through illegal activities. He commented, “I don’t know if Ms. Alexandre celebrates Christmas or not, but she’s certainly not spreading joy this holiday season.”

This incident underscores the serious repercussions of engaging in multiple traffic and legal violations. The actions taken by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office serve as a reminder of the importance of driving responsibly and adhering to the law, especially in sensitive areas such as school zones.
