Fort Lauderdale Police Celebrate Cultural Heritage with Toy Giveaway

In a gesture honoring Latin traditions, the Fort Lauderdale Hispanic Police Association organized its second annual Three Kings Day toy giveaway.

The event took place at Las Carnitas Restaurant on Davie Boulevard, drawing in families and community members to celebrate this culturally significant day. Known in many Latin cultures as a time for gift-giving, Three Kings Day commemorates the Magi’s visit to the infant Jesus.

Bicycles and gift bags were distributed during the event, capturing the spirit of the holiday. Jorge Feliz Del Rosario, president and founder of the Fort Lauderdale Hispanic Police Association, emphasized the cultural importance of the event. ‘It is very important, because it’s basically – it’s a cultural event, and what we’re doing here is basically showing Fort Lauderdale our good traditions and our culture, so basically everything we do and where we come from,’ he said.

Such gatherings are more than just festive occasions. They play a crucial role in building a sense of community and belonging, providing a platform to share and honor cultural roots among diverse members of the society.

The giveaway reflects the association’s commitment to community engagement and recognition of Latin heritage. It serves as a reminder of the unifying power of cultural celebrations, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds to appreciate shared traditions.
