In a disturbing event in Miami Lakes, 47-year-old Danny Michel Casavilla-Garcia is facing serious charges after a shooting incident at a shopping plaza left one man injured early Monday morning.
Surveillance footage from the scene, located at 15544 Northwest 77th Court, depicts Casavilla-Garcia as he brandishes a firearm and approaches a fleeing individual. The video captures the moment the weapon is discharged, illustrating the gravity of the situation.
According to arrest records, the confrontation erupted around 3 a.m. when Casavilla-Garcia, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, began photographing and recording parked vehicles with his cellphone. This behavior prompted the victims to intervene, asking Casavilla-Garcia to keep his distance, which led to a heated verbal exchange followed by gunfire.
One victim, Cedeno Alvarado, suffered a gunshot wound to the pelvis while standing near his vehicle. Although the second victim escaped injury, a bullet damaged the driver’s side window and the passenger rear door and window of his car. In distress, Alvarado sought help at a nearby gas station and contacted authorities.
In an unusual turn, Casavilla-Garcia himself contacted the police to disclose his location, subsequently surrendering without further incident. At the time of his arrest, he was found with a semi-automatic handgun in his possession. During police questioning, he admitted to discharging his firearm multiple times but claimed uncertainty regarding the specifics of the incident, declaring, “I’m not afraid of anyone.”
Casavilla-Garcia now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and shooting a deadly missile, according to the Miami-Dade Corrections records. His attorney has not been listed in the public domain.
