WASHINGTON – U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra announced on Friday that the government plans to negotiate lower prices for 15 drugs targeted for Medicare price negotiations in 2027, citing their high costs.

The reason we’re pursuing lower prices for these 15 drugs, similar to last year’s negotiations for the 10 most expensive drugs, is that the evidence indicates they are effective, yet they are too costly and need to be reduced, Becerra explained in an interview with CNN.
