The student reported that Anderson had allegedly made inappropriate comments and physical contact, including an incident where he allegedly put his hand around her throat while saying, “I’d kiss you if we weren’t in a room.” This alarming behavior has raised significant concerns among parents and officials.
During questioning, Anderson confessed to the act of placing his hand on the student’s throat but characterized his actions as a “jokingly and playfully” gesture. He denied making any inappropriate comments. Moore emphasized, “It is very serious because it’s a teacher in position of authority and there should be trust and respect for students…it’s our most precious resource in this county and for someone to take advantage of that and to threaten this juvenile’s safety is unacceptable.”
Aside from the criminal proceedings, Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) placed Anderson on paid administrative leave, a standard protocol while further investigation is underway. MCPS confirmed that Anderson, employed since 2020, previously had an unblemished record, making these allegations particularly shocking to the school community.
