Incident Involving Olympian on Miami Beach Raises Questions

The recent arrest of Team USA sprinter Fred Kerley on Miami Beach has sparked significant attention, particularly following statements from DJ Sky High Baby, who was with Kerley during the incident.

According to DJ Sky High Baby, the events unfolded when she and Kerley were attempting to access their vehicle, which was blocked by a police vehicle. As they attempted to navigate around the obstruction, a police officer allegedly pushed Kerley, escalating the situation. “So as we tried to move around to our car, the police officer decided to push my boyfriend and move him out of the way, and it started a big fiasco,” she explained.

The Miami Beach Police Department provided an arrest report stating that officers were engaged in a separate active investigation when Kerley approached the scene. Despite instructions to avoid the area, Kerley reportedly argued with officers, leading to a confrontation. Body camera footage corroborates this sequence, showing Kerley engaged in a verbal dispute with the officers before it escalated into a physical altercation.

During the confrontation, Kerley was taken down by officers, with forceful measures including being struck and tasered, according to police. DJ Sky High Baby expressed disbelief at the response, stating, “It’s just crazy to the extent that it took four police officers to try to detain him. It was absolutely crazy.”

She further suggested that the aggressive behavior of the officers might be racially motivated, pointing out that they were treated as targets because they are Black. “It’s just really sad that you go on vacation out on Miami Beach, I was out with my company that I work with, and of a sudden, police just wanna target someone for being Black,” she remarked.

DJ Sky High Baby, also arrested for resisting an officer without violence, insisted that neither she nor Kerley intended to obstruct any ongoing police investigations. “We were simply just trying to get to the car, we weren’t trying to obstruct justice or anything like that,” she said, emphasizing the routine nature of their actions.

The incident involving Fred Kerley on Miami Beach raises concerns about police conduct and alleged racial profiling. As discussions continue, the focus remains on uncovering the full context of this confrontation and addressing the broader implications of such incidents.
