MACON, Ga. – A Macon teenager has been acquitted on all charges, including murder, related to the June 5 killing of a 22-year-old man at a west Macon apartment complex, according to court records. The jury found the teen not guilty in the death of Marcus Cunningham at the Autumn Trace Apartments.
The teenager, whose name is not being published by The Docket as he is a minor and was acquitted, faced charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and first-degree home invasion. Court documents filed on October 24 confirm the not-guilty verdict on all counts.
Three other individuals were also arrested in connection with the incident: Darrell Stanley, Kenio Bibbs, and Alfonzo Hyman. According to officials, the cases against these three men are still pending within the judicial system. The indictment suggests Cunningham was killed during a home invasion.
The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the acquittal, citing the ongoing investigation and prosecution of the other three accused men. The victim’s father, Marcus Cunningham Sr., remembered his son as a “very funny, athletic, very respectful” and “happy kid” who maintained strong family bonds.
While one defendant has been acquitted, the legal proceedings for the remaining suspects will continue. It is important to note that all individuals accused in a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
