A 47-year-old Brooksville man was killed Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision on Blue Hill Road in Surry, according to the Maine State Police. Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 2:45 p.m. to investigate the incident which involved three vehicles.
According to a press release issued by Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, preliminary investigations indicate that a 2015 Subaru Forester was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation. Investigators stated that the vehicle subsequently struck two southbound vehicles: a 2018 Honda Fit and a 2024 Ram 2500.
Law enforcement officials identified the driver of the Subaru as Mark Nevells, 47, of Brooksville. He sustained critical injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the Honda Fit and the Ram 2500 were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and later released.
