A brazen theft in Pinecrest has left residents on edge after a masked individual attempted to steal a luxury SUV and succeeded in taking a designer backpack. Surveillance footage captured the audacious crime, prompting a local family to warn the community.
In a concerning incident caught on camera, a masked thief was seen trespassing onto a Pinecrest property and targeting a luxury vehicle parked in the driveway. The thief, fully covered to conceal their identity, managed to jump the six-and-a-half-foot fence surrounding the home of a resident identified as Andrew.
Andrew recounted the harrowing experience, explaining that his mother had just arrived at his house and left her SUV door open while assisting with his newborn daughter. Unbeknownst to her, the thief seized this opportunity. “They jumped it right here, right in front of the front door area,” Andrew noted. Inside the unlocked SUV, the thief found a black Louis Vuitton backpack containing Andrew’s mother’s wallet.
The masked intruder swiftly tossed the backpack over the fence, presumably where a getaway vehicle, described as a black Maserati, awaited. “Within, I mean, 30 seconds, they were back over the fence, threw the bag over the fence. There was probably one or two guys in the car,” Andrew shared.
However, the criminal’s ambitions were not satisfied. Within five minutes, the thief returned, likely having realized the keys to the high-value vehicle were within the purse inside the bag. “My wife noticed somebody in the car, and walked outside thinking I was playing a prank on her,” Andrew mentioned. This intervention caused the thief to flee the scene hastily.
The incident left Andrew’s family understandably shaken. Surveillance footage revealed the frightening moment his wife and mother realized the presence of the masked individual. “You can’t even have peace of mind in the middle of the day, let alone at nighttime,” Andrew commented, expressing the heightened sense of insecurity now felt within their home.
This is not an isolated occurrence in the neighborhood, Andrew noted. He mentioned that similar crimes have happened before, affecting both his family and neighbors in the area. “This will be the second time in two years. Actually, I know our neighbors have had similar issues. Neighbor across the street almost four times,” he stated with concern.
