On Monday, law enforcement officials in Florida arrested a man from southwest Miami-Dade following an alleged online threat against Governor Ron DeSantis.
The individual, identified as 21-year-old Valentin Tomas Morales, reportedly posted a threat on the social media platform X. In his post, Morales allegedly stated, “I think im going to f—ing kill Ron DeSantis.”
This digital threat was detected by the Florida Fusion Center, which subsequently alerted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on the same day of the post.
Following the report, authorities proceeded to apprehend Morales at his home in the gated Mahogany Isle neighborhood within The Hammocks, Miami-Dade County. During the arrest, Morales was charged with making written threats to kill.
It remains unclear what motivated Morales to make such aggressive remarks, as investigators have not disclosed any specific reasons behind his actions. Furthermore, Morales reportedly declined to communicate with authorities upon being taken into custody.
He is currently detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center under a $5,000 bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
