A shooting incident in Miami has led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man, identified as a drug dealer, following an investigation by local authorities.
The incident, which took place last month, was reported at a motel located on 5950 NE Biscayne Blvd. Miami police responded to the venue at 2:18 a.m. on December 13, alerted by a ShotSpotter system that several gunshots had been fired. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man who had been shot multiple times. The victim was quickly transported by Miami Fire Rescue to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
A key witness, who is reportedly the girlfriend of the victim, played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. She recognized him in a photo lineup as her marijuana dealer and disclosed his phone number to law enforcement, although she was unaware of his name. This information was pivotal in identifying the suspect as Kandre Malyk Dorival from Miami Gardens.
Surveillance footage reveals that before the shooting, the victim approached Dorival while he was in his vehicle. The two had a brief exchange before Dorival allegedly opened fire, striking the victim multiple times. After the shooting, Dorival is reported to have closed his car door and driven away, heading south along Biscayne Boulevard.
Following the investigation, Dorival was apprehended on Monday and taken into custody. Although he provided a statement to detectives, the details have been withheld from the public. Dorival now faces charges, including attempted second-degree murder and using a firearm during a felony.
As of the latest reports, Dorival is still detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with his bail yet to be determined. Legal proceedings are anticipated as the investigation continues.
