INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 431 near the Mt. Rose Summit on Sunday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. The collision led to a multi-hour closure of the highway in both directions.
Authorities responded to the scene before 9 a.m. on November 16. The highway was subsequently closed between the Slide Mountain Ski Bowl Highway and Tahoe Meadows to allow investigators to process the scene of the incident.
A preliminary investigation by the highway patrol indicates that a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 431 failed to negotiate a curve and entered the eastbound travel lane. The vehicle then collided head-on with a second vehicle that was traveling eastbound.
Officials confirmed one fatality from the incident. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased or specified which vehicle the individual occupied, pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
