PALM COAST, Fla. – An 80-year-old pedestrian was killed Friday morning in the Grand Haven community after being struck by a sport utility vehicle backing out of a driveway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers reported that the fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:38 a.m. near the intersection of Shinnecock Drive and Shinnecock Court. According to investigators, the SUV was reversing from a residential driveway when it hit the man. The victim, identified as a resident of Palm Coast, was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP officials identified the driver as a 78-year-old woman from Palm Coast. Investigators noted that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and did not sustain any injuries.
