The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between Stoneleigh and Kenilworth on Tuesday, November 11, and authorities are still searching for the vehicle involved.
The victim was identified as Israr Hussain of Coventry. He was discovered with serious injuries at approximately 9:20 p.m. and subsequently died. The vehicle that struck Mr. Hussain has not yet been located, prompting an expanded appeal for information from the public.
Investigation Intensifies
In an effort to gather new leads, investigators identified hundreds of vehicles that passed through the area between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on the night of the collision. “As part of our investigation, we have however identified nearly 500 vehicles passing through the area in the timeframe leading up to him being discovered,” said Inspector Michael Huntley.
The force has sent letters to the registered keepers of these vehicles. The correspondence asks recipients to confirm if they witnessed the collision, saw a cyclist on the A46 beforehand, or have any relevant dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.
Authorities continue to urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as the search for the responsible driver and vehicle remains ongoing.
