LAKE CITY, Fla. — The Lake City Police Department is actively searching for a suspect identified as Aljowan Jones, who is considered armed and dangerous following a reported robbery at a Dollar General store on Tuesday evening. As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed that Jones has not yet been located.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call regarding a robbery in progress at the retailer located on NE Bascom Norris Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. on December 2. Investigators state that Jones entered the establishment, seized merchandise, and attempted to exit the premises without providing payment. When an employee followed Jones and an unidentified companion out of the store, Jones allegedly brandished a handgun and issued verbal death threats against the employee and bystanders.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers determined that the suspect had fled the area. Police confirmed that no physical injuries were sustained during the incident. In an official statement, Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler addressed the severity of the confrontation. “Anytime a firearm is used to threaten our citizens, we take it extremely seriously,” Butler said. “We will continue to work with our community partners and the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that those who bring guns into our businesses to commit crimes are held accountable.”
