LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Three suspects have been arrested and charged with armed robbery and firearms offenses following an incident in St. Mary’s County on Sunday evening, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported the seizure of two handguns during the arrest, one of which was equipped with a machine gun conversion device.
Deputies responded to a call at approximately 6:05 p.m. in the 44000 block of Redwood Lane in California, Maryland. Law enforcement officials stated that the victim described being approached by an acquaintance who brandished a handgun. The suspect, accompanied by another individual, allegedly stole cash and a jacket before fleeing the scene in a green passenger vehicle.
According to the police report, patrol deputies located the vehicle shortly after the incident and initiated a traffic stop. The occupants were identified as Justin Tyler Chapman, 22, of Lexington Park; Brandon Rafael Adams Jr., 18, of Bowie; and Jevone Daevion Reid, 19, of California. Detectives from the Criminal Intelligence Unit subsequently identified Reid as the individual who allegedly pointed the weapon at the victim.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies recovered a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun fitted with a machine gun conversion device. All three men were taken into custody and transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown pending a bond hearing.
Official records indicate that Reid faces 12 counts, including armed robbery, possession of a regulated firearm by a person under 21, and assault. Chapman has been charged with seven counts, including possession of a rapid-fire trigger activator and illegal possession of ammunition. Adams faces 12 counts, mirroring several of Reid’s charges, including armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
