President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly poised to select Brooke Rollins for the position of Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, according to sources familiar with the ongoing discussions.
Despite the speculation, the nomination is not yet confirmed until an announcement is made by Trump. On Friday, reports surfaced that Trump had been considering businesswoman and former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler for the position. Loeffler had met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, engaging in several discussions with the transition team regarding the role. However, Trump delayed confirming his Agriculture pick while announcing other nominees Friday night, which led to questions about whether Loeffler was indeed offered the role.
Brooke Rollins, currently the CEO of the America First Policy Institute, has maintained strong ties with Trump’s transition team. She expressed her support for the president-elect in a social media post, highlighting her commitment to Trump’s vision for America. Rollins was previously considered for the role of White House Chief of Staff but withdrew when it became apparent that taking the role would lead to a power struggle with Susie Wiles, who ultimately secured the position.
Rollins communicated her interest in the Agriculture Secretary role to the transition team, and she recently discussed the position with Trump. Having served as the White House Domestic Policy Council director during Trump’s first term, Rollins brings significant experience to the table. Before her White House tenure, she was the president of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think tank, for 15 years.
The Wall Street Journal initially reported Rollins as the likely nominee. Her anticipated nomination underscores the ongoing efforts to shape the upcoming administration’s policies in line with Trump’s established agenda.
While Brooke Rollins is anticipated to take on the role of Agriculture Secretary, the official confirmation awaits President-elect Trump’s announcement. Her potential appointment reflects the administration’s continued alignment with the America First vision.
