The funeral was organized by the sheriff’s office alongside Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, ensuring Proctor was no longer confined to a nameless grave.
Eric Holm, the Chaplain, emphasized the significance of recognizing Proctor as an individual with a known identity: ‘We gather to lay to rest Mr. Mack Proctor, not as an unknown victim, but as someone who was always known to the creator.’ Similarly, Sheriff Grady Judd captured the moment’s poignancy, stating that such cases highlight the resolve of detectives who persist in seeking justice: ‘It’s good for their heart and soul to see that we’re able to reunite our victim with his family, if not any other way but memory alone.’
Proctor’s son, now 77 years old and living in Georgia, was unable to attend due to illness but expressed deep gratitude toward the detectives involved.
