One of the leading fashion design schools in the region–South Florida Fashion Academy–recently had several of its top creative middle and high school fashion design students present beautiful fashion collections during LOUD Week’s annual runway fashion show in collaboration with Love of Urban Design and Miami Gardens Council woman Linda Julian in Miami Gardens.
SF/FA provides specialized beauty, fashion, and business programs for students in sixth through twelfth grades and offers bright creative students dual-enrollment specialty programs that allow students to receive their standard core curriculum education while also studying a specialty like fashion or beauty. “We’re proud to educate and guide local creative students to earn their licensing, collect credits and state certifications in their niche career via a multitude of electives that are informative and inspiring. Our sole purpose at SF/FA is to ultimately prepare students to succeed and earn a living in the real business world right out of high school,” said McGill, who is the sole founder and Creative Director of SF/FA.
Taj McGil is the founder & Executive Director of South Florida Fashion Academy (SF/FA) as well as a seasoned school teacher who has turned her passion for fashion, education and working with inspiring young people into one of the region’s leading educational institutions for middle and high school students. As a proud woman of style and entrepreneurial trailblazer, she’s proud to continue to use her experience as a fashion stylist and image consultant to train young minds. She is a current advisory board member for the Women’s Chamber of Commerce for Miami-Dade, as well as member of Fashion Group International Member, and active community leader who is highly respected and enthralled in the national and local fashion education arena. “Our goal with South Florida Fashion Academy is to help foster and develop the next generation of trailblazers, with an emphasis on the Black community here in Fort Lauderdale and across greater South Florida,” McGill stated.
SF/FA has been providing creative young students with practical, real-life industry experience bringing their creative fashion concepts to life for four years now, with plans to expand its various programs. “Many of our hard working and talented fashion design students are already getting acceptance letters from top fashion schools and universities, which is something we’re incredibly proud and excited about,” McGill stated.
South Florida Fashion Academy Senior high school student fashion designer Kyhla P. debuted a fabulous collection under her fashion brand, Eclipse – couture gowns representing each unique zodiac sign.

Students who also presented new fashion collections at LOUD Week’s iconic runway fashion show last month included student fashion designer Aliyana C., student fashion designer Senior Blake S. took inspiration from the latest box office hit musical movie, WICKED, Alyssa M., Selecia R., Amara A., Junior fashion design student Terreek G. who offered up a creative red men’s collection, Isis P., Khyla B., Jordyn G., and Gabriel I.
