According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred on September 25 when Dickson failed to yield the right of way. Investigators state that Dickson pulled his vehicle directly into the path of motorcyclist Fernando Porter. Porter sustained critical injuries in the subsequent collision and later died.
Prosecutors further allege that Dickson was operating the vehicle with a suspended license at the time of the crash. The charges were announced on December 12, with arraignment proceedings pending.
"This fatal crash was not an accident," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a press release regarding the charges. "When an individual chooses to drive under the influence, as appears to be the case here, that person is making a purposeful decision that endangers others."
